April 2, B is for BABY.







Lilian Eveline Galbraith, born Sunday 22 October 1911 at 8.00am, so reads the entry in the family bible, her mum kept. Lily, as she was known, was the second of 10 children to Arthur and Eveline Galbraith, nee Jasper. She  was baptised on 22 November 1911, at Stephen’s, Newtown. Lily attended Erskineville Public School, worked as in a boot factory and Allan’s Cake Shop, at Erskineville. Her confirmation took place in Holy Trinity, Erskineville on 19 September 1924.
Lily married twice. Firstly to Cecil Gullen in 1945 and then Matthew Abberton in 1954. She was widowed, twice, being left with a 3 year old daughter, both times.
Mum died 7 June 2006. Her legacy, two daughters, three granddaughters, one grandson, four great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons

  4. Grandma would make all their clothes and I think the dress was worn by all the girls. Mum was the 2nd eldest. If you look at my Wedding Wednesday posts, Arthur Galbraith and Eveline Jasper, She is my Grandma and the maker of the dress and the wedding dress she is wearing.
