Two Interesting Websites.

I found these during the week. The first one is; http://www.oldmapsonline.com      Worldwide,  this will be very useful when trying to find exactly where our ancestors lived. I discovered that Regent Street, Camperdown, NSW has it's name changed to Probert Street, Camperdown, NSW, just by using this site. I'm going to have fun playing around on it. The second one is called SnagIt. it is for capturing images etc. as a screen shot. https://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.html   I've got a 15 day free trial and will be purchasing it as it is so easy to use. Hope you find them useful. Bye for now, Lilian.

Some websites for the different things we did.

I'm not getting any kickbacks from these companies but I would recommend them for the different things we did. Salt Lake City. Found these people through a leaflet in our hotel. Amanda did the City Sights one and together we did the Great Salt Lake one. www.saltlakecitytours.org If you want a good Mexican food, Red Iguana2, is the place. www.rediguana.com Las Vegas. The Neon Boneyard, an amazing place to visit. www.neonmuseum.org San Francisco. The City Sightseeing San Francisco, with their four hop-on, hop-off buss are the best. (Paul and I used this company in Europe and the buses were great.) www.citysightseeing.us Red and White Fleet Cruises, have a variety of cruises, wed did the Bridge to Bridge one. Amanda had also used them when they were there in 2013 www.redandwhite.com Pier 39, shops, food and sea lions. Well worth the walk along it. pier39.com Alcatraz tours are best booked well before you get there as there is a limited number of tours across t...

A couple of interesting websites

My January/February issue of inside history ( insidehistory.com.au ) arrived and I have been enjoying reading it, as usual. I try not to read it in one go but that is hard! There is an article on Mark Tedeschi's QC, new book Kidnapped, The crime that shocked a nation. About the Graeme Thorn kidnapping in 1960. Even though I was young, I remember it very well. Well worth a read and I might just have to buy the book. The article Writing the Past, is about a new website that is a 'new storytelling platform can help you share your treasured family stories'. I've looked at the home page and browsed the topics but even though you can write a 'free' story, you have to subscribe to take it further. At around $AD85, you would have to write a lot of stories. Only launched in January 2016, lets see how it goes. www.ourfamilypast.com    is the link. This year is the 10th anniversary of the Biographical Database of Australia and the article cover what records they ha...
