At 10.00am on Friday 9 March 2018, at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Darling Harbour, the 15th Australasian Congress on Genealogy and Heraldry, began, with three concurrent sessions. And the choices were difficult, with a very varied range of topics. A1, was my first choice, with Jill Ball's Beaut Blogs: ideas for tarting up Geneablogs. What a fantastic session it was! I write, I suppose everyone does to some extent. Shopping lists, notes, essays, letters, reports, on birthday and Christmas cards, blogs and books, all manner of writing but does that make me a writer?   Yes, No, Maybe? My trusty little Collins Australian Gem English Dictionary, give the meaning of the word writer as thus; Writer, n, one who writes; author.    So according to that I am a writer and thus I am. I ask this question because in the past few week I have read or listened to other authors explain their writing process, their struggles with getting it right, how they research, for their book(s) and how they feel as a author. I found myself nodding, in agreement with them or saying 'I do that...' Am I supposed to write something profound for my 500th post?  Looking back at my posts, I see that I have written on many and varied topics. Why did I choose them? Some were used to try and find 'family'. Some were to show where I'd been. Some  were where I reviewed books or websites. A large number cover different aspects of genealogy. For April 2016, I did the A-Z Challenge and was please with my effort. It was hard coming up with ideas for each letter of the alphabet. I'm going to do it again in 2018. How many of us read other peoples blogs? I have several that I read and find that they are a wonderful way to get to know others.  The blog I'm going to review here is from FamilySearch. Now before you go, "not them, Again!" When was the last time you really had a good 'play' on their site? It is free and very useful. Go on, have a look. FamilySearch Blog is like most blogs, with frequent posts and what I like about it is that you don't have to scroll through every blog to find the one that you want to visit, again.   there are 18 different categories for you to read. I like going into What's New at FamilySearch and Tech Tips. These help me know what is new and solve any small problems I might have with searching. So go and read a different blog and enjoy.
