February Reading

Image
My February reading has been constant, with 10 books, so far. I've been turning the computer off around 5.00pm most nights and then sitting and reading before I start dinner. Reading in bed also happens. My author for February is Katie Fford. I read two of hers, Island in the Sun. Set in the Caribbean, on Dominica, Cass is asked by her father to undertake a photography project. Things happen, which make it an interesting read. I gave it five stars.  One Enchanted Evening,   was the second one of hers I read. This one is set in 1964, in a small hotel in Dorset. A fun read, also five stars. Thomas McaEntee's   new book, The Big Book of Genealogy Lists,   is just that. Full of useful lists, covering everything from Common Abbreviations & Acronyms to A Research Checklist, and everything in between. A really useful book, that I found interesting to read through and I know I will be using it with my research.  Do you know what a Necessary Woma...

More books for the pile.

I have added two more books to my reading pile and think that I will make a start on one of them soon. Kathy Reichs, The Bone Collector is a collection of four short stories. Included is the story of how Tempe became a forensic anthropologist. Going to start this one, today. Karly Lane is an Australian author, I've yet to read. The blur, for Third Time Lucky had me saying, 'yes'. Two different people, both from the same town and with pasts meet up, again but will things go smoothly for them. Read it and see. Over the next week I'm going to indulge in my passion for reading and share some of my favourite authors. I am going to start with Australian ones, so watch this space... Happy reading, Lilian.     )this post was originally posted in December 2016, gremlins have re-posted it, sorry.)

Summer Reading: Review

Image
Since I posted about these two books I have read both, (now to add two new ones to the pile, lol). Kathy Reichs didn't disappoint with four gripping stories. Short and full of detail, with serious discussions in the first three, they are fantastic. Dealing with puppy mills, raptors, pythons, The Everglades and climbing deaths on Mt Everest make for interesting reads. The fourth story has me waiting for her next full novel to come out. While it is about how Tempe got into forensics, it is the ending that has the twist . Not telling, read the story. Karly Lane, new to me, I loved it.  The blurb on the cover says A heartwarming novel about betrayal, ambition and the power of love. It is all that and more. I thought it was slow to start with and found her habit of slipping into the past strange BUT once I started I couldn't put it down. The trips into the past are as if the person was remembering and they added spice to the story. Again not telling, read it. Bye for n...
