Accentuate the Positive

Jill Ball reminds us to do this each year, so here is my 2022  1. I got the most joy from, the Coffee 'n' Chat group I started in 2020, during Covid, via Zoom. It is still going strong and I love the chats we have. 2. The Covid situation gave me an opportunity to, tidy up files, work on my tree and play with DNA. 3. I managed to attend a face to face event at,  FHDU at Castle Hill, this first genealogy event I've been to since Rootstech in 2020 4. My main focus this year was on a One-Place Study that I've started on a cemetery at Mummell, NSW. 5.  A new piece of technology or skill I mastered was, my new phone. It took some time to get the photos off the phone and onto the computer. 6. A geneasurprise I received was, when a cousin showed up in my DNA results, I hadn't  know she had tested. Yes, it does prove that we are cousins! 7.  A Facebook Group that helped me was. History Goulburn, with information for my study. 8.  My 2022  social med...

Family History DownUnder 2021 UPDATED

It was announced on 13 January that FHDU2021 will be a virtual conference, please check the website for details. Yippie, now I can go. Well what a messed up 12 months we have had, Covid-19 has thwarted plans for genealogy get togethers, worldwide  with BUT Allan Phillips and his intrepid crew have got FHDU organised. March 22-26 at Maroochy RSL. Maroochydore on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. The program is packed with excellent speakers, like Carol Baxter, John Boeren, Janet Frew, Shauna Hicks and Mel Hulbert to name five of the 28 listed on the speakers page. Now if you are one of the very lucky ones, allowed to travel, I hope you have a look at the bookings and try to go. Me, well I'm waiting for FHDU 2022, when... maybe... I can travel outside my home state. This link, below takes you to the home page and you can browse from there. https://www.familyhistorydownunder.com/

I'm Back!

When last I wrote I had 22 days to go until I left for RootsTech 2020, now having been home 5 days, it is finished. I had an amazing time, explored and made new friends. I will be doing a series of posts about my time at RootsTech and exploring some interesting places. The big change to my page is the new badge in the top left corner. It might look like the old one but if you look very closely you will see different dates. This is going to be a fantastic genealogy conference, on the Sunshine Coast in March 2021. Below is a photo of the international speakers that have been lined up. I can't wait.  Back row, Judy G Russell, Maurice Gleeson, David Rencher.  Front row, Paul Milner, Chris Paton, Blaine T Bettinger, Cyndi Ingle. There will be more information coming but look at the website and consider joining me there. Bye for now, Lilian.
