Rachel Wyatt Vaughan

 Rachel Wyatt Vaughan is the tenth child of my great-great-grandparents, Henry Vaughan and Charlotte Chasmar. I know little about this child other than the facts I list below. Rachel Wyatt Vaughan, born 28 July 1864 at Castlereagh Street, Sydney and died 13 January 1865 at Castlereagh Street, Sydney and buried 15 January 1865 at Camperdown Cemetery. What has interested me was the middle name Wyatt. A maiden name of someone? Couldn't find ANY family with that name. It has/had me stumped. Well until this morning and it's only an assumption but... I was searching through the Camperdown Cemetery List on the church website,  Camperdown Cemetery   When a name caused me to look again, Joseph Wyatt, 1788 - 20 July 1860. Interesting. There was also a link to the headstone and there are seven people with the surname Wyatt buried in that cemetery, including Rachel Dobson Wyatt, 1794 - 1 July 1894. Very interesting. Accentuate the Positive 2020

 Jill Ball started this years ago and as 2020 has been a challenging year, I though I'd have a look back on what has happened. While Covid-19 curtailed face-to-face meetings, technology has enabled us to stay in touch, attend meetings or just catch up, so enjoy my Accentuate the Positive for 2020. 1)  An elusive ancestor I found was,  none this year. I mostly added new information, to the ones I have, as I’ve spent a large amount of time researching.      2)     A great newspaper article I found was, I’ve explored more of the wonders of Trove, whilst looking for information for clients and my own blogs. You find the most interesting things just by turning the pages.       3)  A geneajourney I took  was to Salt Lake City and RootsTech. There I did research in the Family History Library, attended informative lectures, caught up with friends, made new ones and won four  DNA kits from the major companies. ...

That Henry Vaughan, Red Rover, born 1810 in Middlesex, occupation hatter [1] is the same person as my ancestor, Henry Vaughan, born 1810 in Middlesex, occupation hatter [2] . Method. This will be proved or disproved by looking at the three convicts named Henry Vaughan, who arrived in either Sydney Cove or Van Diemen’s Land between 1828 and 1836.
