This 'n' That Part 2

Having had a wonderful Sunday exploring, Monday saw me attend a Paper Preservation class with Family History ACT.It was excellent and I also managed to look at several books relating to my One-Place Study on Mummell Cemetery. No new information was found but I'm glad I checked.

I then went and picked up Paul so we could go and do the new galleries in the Australian War Memorial, called ANZAC Hall. Our guide was very knowledgeable and the tour was excellent. This new area hasn't been opened very long and it covers everything from Peace Keeping to Afghanistan, with the veterans helping with the displays. SBS did a documentary series called The New ANZAC. Well worth a look and it is on SBS On Demand.

Tuesday saw us head to Yass for me to do some research at the Yass Valley History Centre. The volunteers were helpful, but ancestors didn't leave much information behind. We then drove around Yass, looking a several places they had connections too. We also discovered Yass Dam, lovely spot. A trip to the cemetery to see their grave.

We decided to visit the Murrumbateman Winery, for a tasting and to stock up on some of our favourites.

Back to Yass for lunch in the pub, before checking into out accommodation. Watched the Melbourne Cup horse race and then read.
