Thursday 21 R for ROLL of HONOUR.

At the Australian War Memorial, in Canberra, there are two terraces, each with a Roll of Honour on them. One side is for World War 1 and the other for World War 2, with a section for other conflicts. These rolls have the names of all Australian service men and women killed in conflicts. People now place poppies beside the names and the walls look beautiful, with the sea of red poppies. Well worth a visit, when in Canberra.  Australian War Memorial,   https://www.awm.gov.au/

Paul and I spent last Tuesday exploring the new World War 1 area of the AWM. It is fantastic, very hands on, with touch screens everywhere. They have it set out chronologically and each section has display cases and a touch screen. You want to know more about what is there, pick an object, touch the object on the screen and the information is displayed. Very light and well set out. It was well worth the visit.                                                     "G" for George, bomber.                                         ...

Irish Ancestery

Had a quick overnight trip to Canberra, last weekend. I went and saw the exhibit at the National Museum of Australia, called, Not Just Ned, The Irish in Australia. It tells the story of Irish immigration, through the lives different people. I don't want to give to much away as it is well worth a visit. Went to the Australian War Memorial, on Sunday. I  like to pay my respects to my 2 uncles, who are on The Roll of Honour.
