Thoughts on Writing. (nothing profound)

I write, I suppose everyone does to some extent. Shopping lists, notes, essays, letters, reports, on birthday and Christmas cards, blogs and books, all manner of writing but does that make me a writer?   Yes, No, Maybe? My trusty little Collins Australian Gem English Dictionary, give the meaning of the word writer as thus; Writer, n, one who writes; author.    So according to that I am a writer and thus I am. I ask this question because in the past few week I have read or listened to other authors explain their writing process, their struggles with getting it right, how they research, for their book(s) and how they feel as a author. I found myself nodding, in agreement with them or saying 'I do that...' Now I'm not saying I'm the next Nora Roberts or Mary Higgins Clark but in my little corner of the world, I'm Lilian Magill, Published Author! I have published  this, and this, Both of these will never be best sellers but copies of both have b...

I've added two more to my reading pile. Mary Higgins Clark,  has a new Under Suspicion  book out, The Sleeping Beauty Killer. Was Vasey Carter really guilty of her fiancé 's murder, 15 years ago? This is next on my to read list. Next is my Christmas present, Playing To Win, the definitive biography of John Farnham, by Jeff Apter. John is an Australian music icon and it should be a good read. Next is the sequel to Me Before You, titled After You by Jojo Moyes. I bought the two books, together, loved Me Before You but I can't get into the sequel. I've had three goes at it but find it is very slow. Will give it another try.  If you have read it, let me know what you think.

I've been reading.

I'm an enthusiastic reader, usually having two to three books on the go, at once. I thought that I would share the pile I have gone through. I really enjoy Mary Higgins Clarke and these three were no exception.  The Melody Lingers On, I picked up in Paris and finished it in Venice. The blurb says, '...  a huge financial scandal and a breathtaking tale of deception and betrayal.' Really good. Death Wears a Beauty Mask and Other Stories, is a collection oh 10 short stories, with a twist. Enjoyed it. All Dressed in White has us back with Laurier Moran as she recreates the disappearance of a bride-to-be. Gripping! Kathy Reichs has Dr Tempe Brennan investigating a ' ... case more complicated and horrifying than she could ever have imagined ...' I enjoy Kathy's books. Undercover is a love story, with a bit of a twist. Set in Colombia, Argentina, France and the USA, it is a fast flowing story, that gets you hooked. Lastly, what is on my beds...
