Lilian's Tree

 A good friend and I spent the weekend quilting. Me more so as her machine died. (She has ordered  new one, as the old one was over 20 years old.) I stayed Saturday night, so we could start early Sunday. We had so much fun, lots of giggles, some wine and a delicious roast dinner, Saturday night. Bliss. Below is my two quilt tops I finished. The bright one I started in 2016, so it got its two borders, yesterday. The one with the square panels, was started on Saturday and finished, Sunday. Very pleased with my effort. The Christmas stitcheries were finished last week and now to sash them with purple ribbon and the tree fabric will be the backing.

Looking through Trove, for article on Quilting, I was surprised by the number of hits but when I looked at the articles the actual word was Quitting!  Quitting isn't something quilters  do. We might have a lot of UFO's or WIP's but we don't quit. This article is about how you can adorn the modern home with quilting. Aside from genealogy, I enjoy quilting or patchwork, as it is sometimes called. I've been seriously quilting, since 1999 and am seriously addicted! In April I'm joining friends at a quilting retreat . Two days to indulge in uninterrupted sewing, bliss !  With that in mind and not wanting to start a new project, just before I go to RootsTech, I've worked on what I am going to do, at the retreat.   This is what is on our bed. It was a mystery lap size quilt, I turned into double bed size. But now it is to small for our queen size bed and I'd like on that fits.   This is the design of the one I'm going to make. Well it looks like my study will be painted and re-floored before Christmas, not in the New Year! I'm thrilled that I've been through everything and now will only have to move them. Think I'll stick the boxes, drawers and shelving in the garage and the books in the spare bedroom. I wonder if the freezer will fit in the laundry? Must measure it up. That would give me a bit more space. Or I could move it to another spot in the room. My sewing table will have to go down the garage and my desk will have to stay. It will work out well. Now do I want vinyl or carpet on the floor? Suggestions, please. I have spent part of this week, quilting and I didn't realise how much I missed it. I've made a small quilt for a gift, a bigger one, that a friend have given me the fabric and pattern for, two placemats, for a gift and have just finished cutting out the pieces for another quilt.
