Years ago my husband’s, Paul’s aunt said that we were related to a famous artist, Adelaide Ironside. Well in a way he is and this is how I worked it out. Adelaide Eliza Ironside born 17 November 1831 [1] , to James Ironside and Martha Rebecca Redman.   It was looking into Martha that I got all excited, as her father, John Redman, could have been either a guard on the First Fleet or a convict on the Second Fleet. Well Martha isn’t on Paul’s line.   So scrap that bit of excitement. Sometime before Adelaide turned three, Martha and James separated and as divorce required a great deal of effort, they didn’t divorce. James didn’t waste any time in finding another lady, one Ellen Oak/Oaks. It is through this line that Paul is a descendent. James and Ellen had five children, according to James’ death certificate, four males and one female. Here is my list, I only missed four in the 20. 1)       An elusive ancestor I found was ; I haven’t added any new ancestor, this year, but I’ve continued to add information to most ancestors. 2)       A great newspaper article I found was; Searching for something else, I found a small notice for the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Paul’s great, great-grandparents, Frederick James Ironside and Martha Amelia Bird. 3)       A geneajourney I took was;   I wrote and published a small family history book on the Vaughan/Chasmar side. 4)       An important record I found was; Searching FamilySearch I found what could have been the birth of Paul’s great-grandfather, Samuel Magill. While I was in Salt Lake City, I used the Family History Library and confirmed that it was him. ...

Being away has thrown everything out of wack and I'm running two days late. While I was away, I was doing some research, not for me but came across a Golden Wedding announcement for Paul's Great, great grandparents. They were married in 1861. Brick walls, what fun. I can find 7 registered births for the children of Frederick James Ironside & Martha Amelia Bird, but have just found another child and no registration. Interesting. Looks Like I'll have to get her death certificate.
