It's been a busy week with lost of small things happening, car was due for it's annual service, lunch with friends, spending time with the Grandies, catching up with friends and knitting group and now it is Saturday! Last night I signed the amended quote and should have a proof copy of the book, this coming week. As several more people are interested I increased the run to 30 books, from the original 20. I'm getting a bit excited to see an actual copy. The research for the Galbraith book is rolling along. Still no reply from the Victorian BDM's, so I wrote a letter to them and posted it off. Waiting, waiting, waiting.  I think I have taken the Cameron side back two more generations, from Ann Cameron, my ancestor. Now I need to find her arrival, as a child into what was Port Phillip, in the late 1840's. I have made 2017 the year that I publish some of my family research. I'm starting with Henry Vaughan and Charlotte Chasmar. I've spent the past few days going over my research, adding to what I know, fact checking and procrastinating. I'm writing it out in longhand then for the revision I'll type it on the computer, correct spelling and grammar.  I have no idea how long this will take and I'm going to blog my progress. My note book, pencils, papers and reference books. Folder with the documents in it and the research file.   Well I'd better stop blogging and write some more.   Watch this space, for updates! Remember to Accentuate the Positive   1.  An elusive ancestor I found was;  none this year but added details to most branches and enjoyed finding out the information. 2.  A precious family photo I found was; none but I did scan several, late last year, 2015, at a family get together and talked to the Aunts about them. 3.  An ancestor's grave I found was; Henry and Charlotte Vaughan's, at Camperdown Cemetery. The stone is no longer standing but I found them! 4.  An important vital record I found was; probate for my husband's maternal Grandmother. Made very interesting reading. 5.  A newly found family member shared; a draft of their family history.                                                   Wrapping Up My Vaughans. Last week was the end of my Family Fridays' about my Vaughan family. I still have questions  that need answers, people to find and facts to check but I think I've done all I can, at the moment, on the family. Henry Vaughan Snr, is still my focus and between Gail Sutton and I we have spent hours narrowing down his arrival. We think, (more checking needed), that we have him, as a convict and that he was married in England. We have evidence that he was in contact, with his family, in England, so it would be logical to conclude that he waited until he had word that his wife died, before marrying Charlotte. Last week I had several hours to fill in, while Paul was in RPA, having a big test done. He is fine. BUT what was I going to do? Lucky for me my mother's side were from Newtown, Camperdown and Erskineville and Holy Trinity, Erskineville and St Stephen's, Newtown where their churches. Armed with the details I knew of the two burials, at St Stephen's I went grave searching. It is such a beautiful place to walk around and just look at the different adornments of the graves, read headstones of small children and ache for their parent's loss and try and find the grave you want.  I knew that the chances of finding Henry and Charlotte Vaughan's graves was remote, after all part of the cemetery was turned into a park, but it was worth the time. After about an hour and no luck I got talking to the gardener and he asked if I had been onto the church website and looked to see if the grave was in the area left. ELIZABETH VAUGHAN AND RACHAEL  WYATT VAUGHAN. A short Family Friday, this week,   as I discuss the only mention of these two girls. 2 females deceased, is on both Henry and Charlottes’ death certificates.   These are those two females. Elizabeth was born 11 August 1841, to Henry and Charlotte * . As she was born before registration, the actual document is a record of her baptism. It reads, Name, Elizabeth, Father, Henry Vaughan, Quality or Profession, Gentleman, Mother, Charlotte, Date of Baptism, 29 August 1841. Searching the New South Wales, Birth, Deaths and Marriages’, I find two recorded deaths of an Elizabeth Vaughan. One in 1841 and the other in 1847. There are no newspaper notices of her death, for me to check. I did order the 1841 * certificate and that Elizabeth was only 3 months old, when she died.   No parents are listed.                                                      VAUGHAN AN OVERVIEW. Today I was going to start with Henry Vaughan, my Great-great-grandfather but Henry has thrown me some very interesting problems and as such he will have to wait for his turn. This is an overview of the family of Henry Vaughan and Charlotte Chasmar. And that there starts a mystery.   I have been tracing this line for 30 years and found 10 children for them. Elizabeth – 1841 Henry Edward – 1842 William Nathanial – 1845 Isabella Mary Ann – 1847 Louisa 1850 George W – 1852 John A -   1854 Catherine Charlotte – 1856 Frederick 1860 Rachel – 1864 d 1865. I’m enjoying sharing my surnames with you.   Have you looked at the Surname Database, yet? This week I’m looking at Charlotte Chasmar’s husband Henry Vaughan. I think he is an intriguing man as it has taken many years to find small details about him. I first encounter Henry, as my Great-grandmother’s Isabella Mary Ann’s father.   I then find his marriage and death but little else. This was pre-computers and not knowing much else about him, I set him aside. With the computer age growing rapidly Henry was taken out,   dusted off and looked at solidly. Where was he born? When did he arrive? What work did he do? Some of these I was able to answer by carefully reading the certificates I had.   Place of birth, Middlesex, England around 1810.   Arrival date??? Occupation, Tailor is given on Isabella’s birth certificate, commission agent on his marriage certificate, and he states he was a widower and nothing is listed on his death certificate. Well Christmas is over and I can get down to some very serious family tree research. Yesterday I was able to fill in a Pedigree chart for my youngest child and found several gaps, to explore. Some of the surnames that I am researching are Sigrist, Hudson, Chasmar, Vaughan, Jasper & Abberton. Please contact me if you have any of these names. Who knows we could both find 'missing links'!
