Tidying up my Blog

Image
Do you have tags/labels on your blog posts? I didn't until this past week. I have added tags/labels to around 98% of my posts and those that don't have them are either small, one line posts or something I didn't want to add them to. So this was 257 posts over 22 pages Will having tags/labels help me? I don't know.  Will it help others to search my blog ? I hope so. Another 'job' I did and I suppose it didn't have to be done, was put Surname first, on my family tree database. I was adding new certificates and went, wait I want Surname first, so I then changed all the others, to Surname first. 253 enteries had to be done. Happy now!                                                               A paper copy of the database. Bye for now, Lilian.

Magazines

Do you subscribe to genealogical magazines?  Do you find them useful? I subscribe to three magazines and sometimes buy a fourth one. Two are English and two are Australian. Your Family History, (top left, English) is one I sometimes pick-up, if I think the contents are interesting. This one has an interesting article on The Making of America. This looks at the British and Irish, who started news lives in America. There is also an article on the Bismarck. It find it useful and enjoy reading readers queries and how to solve them. Family Tree, (top right, English), this is the one I subscribe to and I find the articles, columns and sections very informative. The previous few months have had a series on how to blog and as a blogger, I discovered some useful tips. This month has an articles on the Magna Carta, Waterloo, The Salvation Army and by Chris Paton, Lost & Found in the archives. Australian Family Tree Connections, (bottom right), has readers stories and photos...

My Day

Boy have I had fun! Yesterday I decided to sort out the family tree filing cabinet.  The amount of useless bits of paper, I checked, that have gone into the recycling bin, was huge. Today I'm sorting old family photos and have an album to put them in. I've also spent time re-checking information, on-line, that I'd scribbled onto said bits of paper.  I've got space to keep things organised and will try to do so!  The cricket is on the ABC so it will keep me company, while I sort some more.
