Lost my Mojo.

 It has been over a month since I last blogged, and my mojo seems to have gone. I did do two blog posts for the Genealogical Society of Queensland, as a guest blogger. They will be out in May.

So, what have I been doing, instead of blogging?

 Reading, both on my Kindle and paperback.

I made an other quilt top. This one is in flannel and I'm not finished with it yet. Still undecided about the border. 

Paul and I had a weekend away at Gosford, when I did a presentation for the Gosford Family History Group. I won a prize in their Easter raffle!



I've been looking into my German Ancestors and have found a mystery. It warrants its own post, so watch this space.


I played on MyHeritage, and made this fan chart family tree. It shows the countries of birth.

I made ANZAC biscuits on Saturday, look strange but taste yum.



BUT my big news is that I have a new computer tower, with Windows 11 on it. I'm still in the setting-up stage and this blog is the last thing I have to move, so I'm being very cautious about it.

    Well done and enjoy the new computer. I was just going through the spreadsheet of Australian Bloggers, so many have stopped posting and a number of blogs have disappeared altogether. Some have moved to other spaces, WeAre and Substack are both popular platforms.

Now the title of this post might have you scratching your head and wondering, 'what is she going on about?'  But if you belong to the Society of Australian Genealogists,  https://www.sag.org.au/   you will know what I'm talking about. Twice a year the Society has 'Lost In' weekends, covering a wide range of topics, some are face-to-face and some are webinars. Both are great. This past weekend was held at the Portside Conference Centre, Sydney, on Saturday and Sunday. Some of the group, early on Saturday morning. The room was filled, both days. George Johnston Fairweather

 In July, this year, I had several days away in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, in the town of Bowral and like all good genealogists, I went for a wander in the cemetery and found this grave. Interesting!  I searched  Trove and found five articles about George's death. Ancestry was next and I found his enlistment details. George Johnston Fairweather was born 1838 in New Brunswick, Canada  and enlisted on the Union side, 15 June 1861 in Maine, as a Private. His unit was Company A,  4th Infantry. After nearly three years, George Musters Out, he deserted! Reading where he fought, I can understand why he deserted, they weren't little battles. Searching several online databases, yield few results and add nothing to my research. George's death is covered in several paper, like the;   Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative (NSW : 1890 - 1954)  Thursday 20 August 1908 -  Page 25. Wedding Wednesday.

Elsie Minnie Ironside married Frederick Charles Sigrist on 5 April 1919 Looking at the photo, from left to right. Alf Tobin, Violet Sigrist, Frederick Sigrist, Elsie Ironside, Lilly Sigrist, Norm Ironside. Edna May Sigrist married Patrick James Magill on 16 April 1949. My in-laws. Edna made her dress. Eveline Maude Jasper married Arthur Alfred Galbraith on 30 December 1908. My mum told me that this photo was taken 3 days after the wedding and that the bouquet wasn't the one she used, as the photo was taken in the photographers studio.  Lilian Evelyn Galbraith married Matthew Henry Abberton on 19 February 1954.
