September Reading - Update
The year is flying by and I'm still reading heaps. Another eight books this month and two that I didn't finish, more about them later.
Well September starts with S, and I had to find an author with the surname starting with S. Enter Trish Stringer and Something in the Wine. St in the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia it is a delightful read. Keely Mitchell is holidaying in Perth when a medical emergency has her contacting a person she met on the plane to Perth. What follows is a story about family, wine and love.
I then found The Ravenmaster, my life with the Ravens at the Tower of London by Christopher Skaife. Chris looks after the ravens in the Tower of London. He explains the birds, the history of why they are there and some of the things that happen, surrounding the birds. A wonderful read about a special part of history.
Fiona McArthur released her new book, The Lightening Ridge Ladies. Set in the New South Wales town of Lightening Ridge. It tells the story of Dr Bella Gray, who takes over her brothers medical practice, while he is away, but Bella has an agenda, she wants to find what happened to her twin brother three years ago, in Lightening Ridge. Fast paced it has the mystery of the missing man, the opal supply drying up and a burnt-out ex-cop. The main powerful theme is women's friendship and support.
The two books below were the ones I didn't finish. Kate Solly's book sounder interesting and loving craft and reading, I thought I'd give it a read. I took an instant dislike to the main character and couldn't go on.
Danielle Steel is another author I usually enjoy reading but this book, Without a Trace, wasn't one of them. She tells the same part of the story, four different ways in the first four chapters. Nope on the didn't finish pile.
This month has seen me read several magazines and history journals, as well. I've also read some of Fiona. My Goodreads total, so far is 81 books out of the 100 I want to read this year.
