June Reading Update

It can't be the end of June already!

This month I finished a vest I started in 2024, it is warm and will be going away with me on our next trip.

My reading has been wonderful because I have just sat and read since we came home from our trip.

Rachael Johns was my J author and her book The Bad Bridesmaid was my choice. Set in Fremantle and Norfolk Island it is the story of Winifred (k/a Fred) Darling is asked to be bridesmaid at her mother's sixth wedding, she will do anything to stop it. She enlists the help of the groom's son, Leo and what follows is hilarious. A really fun read.

These two little books, above were also on my list, recommended at the Church House party they are about Lady Jane Grey and Hug Latimer and their strong faith. Both were during the English Reformation. Interesting reading.

Medivac Midwife (The Pregnant Midwife) by Fiona McArthur was a free read from Book Funnel. I enjoy reading Fiona's books and this one was no exception.

Karly Lane was another choice as when I read the bit on the front, I was hooked.  Based (very loosely) on the New England town of Uralla, it has local history, family history, a bush ranger and a love story. Couldn't put it down.

I also read The Grand Tour: Letters and Photographs from the British Empire Expedition 1922 by Agatha Christie, edited by her grandson Mathew Prichard. Agatha's letters are the ones her mother kept and they make for interesting reading. The descriptions of people and places and what she was doing on the expedition, 103 years ago are fascinating. There is also a television show on SBS, Travels with Agatha and Sir David Suchet. Sir David is taking us to places Agatha went and then reading excerpts from the letters. The tour went to South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, with Agatha and her husband have a brief holiday in Hawaii.

All up I've read eight books, with another to finish.

An emu at the house party.
