December Research

This year I've tried a structured way to research by setting a family line or task each month and I've found it has really helped. It is now December and my last wrap-up for the year. My December research was a mixed bag as I decided to continue with the research into my One-Place Study. I now have 67 names on the main cemetery data-base and of those only six are to recent to be able to obtain death certificates, etc. This leaves me with 61 people to research. I've found that the families seem to have inter-married, as the community was small. I'm adding the names to a family tree data-base and hope that this will give me a clearer picture of the connections. My Ancestry DNA, threw up several good, close DNA matches and I've sent time checking them out and adding them to my Ancestry Tree. I have also went back through the previous 11 months worth of research, double checking that all was correct. I've enjoyed my research, this year and the fact that I stayed fo...

A look back on 2024

What did 2024 bring for me? The opportunity to travel. Good health for Hubby and I. To name two things. BUT what did I do in 2024?  Started a Photo a Day on Facebook for the whole year. I've enjoyed it but don't think I'd do it again, yet.  Set myself a Goodreads target of 100 books and I'm now up to 103, so target met.  Undertook a writing course to start and write my novel, it's a work-in-progress but I'm enjoying it. Kept a journal for the whole year. This year I've added things to the journal to remind me of what I did. Things like leaves that Miss 9 gave me, postcards etc. I lovely reminder of 2024. Went on a 28 day Road Trip through country New South Wales, with Hubby. Explored this wonderful state, caught-up with family and friends along the way. A quick trip to Christchurch, New Zealand for a weekend conference. Coffee 'n' Chat most Monday's with a group of friends. I started this during Covid in 2020 and it's still going and we try ...

Accentuate the Positive, 2024 Geneameme

Image
Jill Ball has challenged us to Accentuate the Positive, for 2024. This theme has been going since 2012 and it is really good to look back on what you have achieved in the past year. 1.  Google provided an answer to not genealogy, but Google gave us ideas of places to see on our 2024 road trip through country NSW. Yes, cemeteries were involved. 2.  I was the recipient of  genearosity  from Jennie F. 3.  This headstone gave me some extra information we knew that an Uncle and Cousin were buried in Armidale Cemetery but it took a photo, taken by a friend to show that   Aunty was also in the grave. 4.  An useful record I discovered was Rate books on the City of Sydney Archives site. A wonderful description of the house my mother was born in. 5.  A newly found family member who shared, not newly found but she lives in Northern NSW and she sent me a photo of her Mum, my half-sister. 6.  A geneasurprise I received was a trip to C...
